Kevin Duckworth’s memorial service was held Saturday, August 30th at the Memorial Coliseum. It was a beautiful service that brought together many of his family, friends, teammates and fans to celebrate a glorious life and a wonderful man.
The Trail Blazers organization suffered a great loss this past summer with the passing of our beloved “00” Kevin Duckworth. The response we received from the community and our partners in the days following his death is a true testament not only to his contribution to the Trail Blazers, but as a valued member of our community.
In honor of Kevin, the Trail Blazers organization has dedicated the 2008-2009 season to Duck, and the team will proudly wear a “00” patch on their uniforms. Also, in keeping with Kevin’s legacy of generosity, the team has established the Kevin Duckworth Memorial Scholarship Fund. Incorporating Duck’s passions, scholarships will provide underserved high school graduates with funds for education and training opportunities in the areas of athletics, physical education, wildlife studies, fish and wildlife management and trades involving wood or iron works.
Throughout the season, fans can visit the Trail Blazers Fan Shop at the Rose Garden Arena to purchase Duckworth jerseys as well as “00 Duck” wristbands, jersey stripes and patches with all proceeds going to the Kevin Duckworth Memorial Scholarship Fund. With your help, we can honor Kevin by continuing to better the lives of the youth in our community for years to come.
