We were only a month into the season and things had already started to go bad. A tough early season schedule had the Blazers playing away from the Rose Garden eight times in the first 17 games, and the youngest team in the league wasn't responding well to life on the road. Eight road games, eight road losses. Losing by an average of 12 points per game on the road was taking its toll, and there didn’t seem to be any end in sight.

But one shot on December 3, 2007 changed the rest of the season. Travis Outlaw takes an inbounds pass with 2.8 seconds left and scores his 21st point of the night on a running bank shot as time expires, giving the Blazers a 106-105 victory, their first road win of the season. Outlaw scored the Blazers’ last seven points in the game’s final 56 seconds, with the game-winner being the first of his NBA career.

“We were struggling on the road,” said Head Coach Nate McMillan. “We’ve had a tough November. Travis gets the ball on a broken play, and he goes from half court to the basket and scores the winning bucket. That play, I can see it just as clearly now as when it unfolded. I would say that really got things started as far as that winning streak.”
