Return to Bobcats Draft Central
|
One of the many great things about working for an NBA teams can often be the conversations that spring up around the office. That was the case following the Bobcats first draft workouts after new Head Coach Larry Brown had this to say about Charlotte's ninth overall pick in the upcoming 2008 NBA Draft - "If you look at this draft, it’s incredibly deep. I look at some of the guys who might be there a number nine and they could turn out to be as good as number two or three in the draft. I’m excited about that." The following day, those quotes got myself, bobcats.com's Malinda Murray, Bobcats Television Play-By-Play Announcer Steve Martin and our Senior Graphic Designer Tru Filyaw talking in the office about just how good the No. 9 pick has been in recent years compared to other picks. Think about it. If you took the top five ninth picks since the lottery's inception in 1985, it would read like an NBA All-Star squad - Tracy McGrady, Dirk Nowitzki, Shawn Marion, Amare Stoudemire and Andre Iguodala. Now I'd be willing to put that starting five up against any other staring five you could come up with if you were able to take all 14 lottery picks and assemble the top five players, regardless of position, for each pick. Now it's time to see if you agree, because we've done just that and are unveiling the NBA Draft Lottery Tournament. We've created teams from picks 1-14 and are going to let our fans vote on who they think should advance and become the NBA Draft Lottery Champion. So check back often in the next couple weeks to cast your vote and see who moves on. |
