Par For The "Courts"

July 14, 2006 - For Milwaukee Bucks players and coaches, basketball isn't the only game in town. When they're not hitting the hardwood, they're hitting the links.
Michael Redd #22, Guard

Best score for 18 holes:
I shot 79 a couple of times.

Best shot:
I’ve driven the green a few times on some shorter par-4 holes.

Favorite club:
I’d have to say my 56-degree wedge. Love to use that club.

Favorite golfing gadget:
I don’t really have one. Just the clubs, tees and balls, I guess.

Side bets:
I just try to score as low as I can and let that stand up against anyone I play with.

Favorite area course:
The Legend at Brandybrook. It’s a nice course. Challenging, but fair.

Where do you travel in the country to golf:
I’ve been able to play Pebble Beach and Pinehurst. Wow. What amazing courses. I was 1-under par through 6 holes at Pebble Beach and then the wheels fell off.

Walking or cart:
I definitely prefer to walk.

Charlie Bell #42, Guard

Best score for 18 holes:
96 – I know it’s not very good, but breaking 100 is an accomplishment right now. Hopefully I’ll have a chance to practice and play a bit more this off-season.

Best shot:
I scared the pin on a par 3 at Mott Park Golf Course in Flint, Michigan, where I’m from. I was able to make a birdie, which is big for me.

Favorite club:
My putter. You know the saying, “Drive for show, putt for dough.”

Favorite golfing gadget:
I guess the ball washer. Keep ‘em clean!

Side bets:
I’m not that good to worry about that kind of stuff…yet.

Favorite area course:
I haven’t had a lot of time to play in Milwaukee, but we did have our Bucks/PCC Charity Golf Outing benefiting Cystic Fibrosis at Ozaukee Country Club. A very nice course and they took great care of us as we tried to raise money for a great cause.

Where do you travel in the country to golf:
Again, I’m in the early stages of learning the game, so I haven’t gone on any golf trips. Most of the golf I’ve played has been in Flint, MI, or around there. Once I start getting better, I’ll work on getting out to more courses around the country.

Walking or cart:
Don’t mind either, but I’ll take a cart most often.

Terry Stotts Head Coach

Best score for 18 holes:
I’ve shot a 78 twice.

Best shot:
Whenever I get my first hole-in-one!

Favorite club:
7-iron

Favorite golfing gadget:
Yardage binoculars, although I don’t own a pair.

Side bets:
Simple Nassau is my favorite (too many crazy ones out there)

Favorite area course:
There are so many good golf courses in the area and I have been fortunate to have played many of them. Ozaukee Country Club, Milwaukee Country Club and the Kohler Courses (Whistling Straits and the River Course) are my favorites. Of those, Ozaukee is probably my favorite because of whom I am playing with.

Where do you travel in the country to golf:
I really don’t take golfing vacations, but I like to golf when I travel.

Walking or cart:
Walking is the best, either with a caddie or a pull cart, but I don’t get to do it often enough.

Brian James Assistant Coach

Best score for 18 holes:
84

Best shot:
I missed a hole-in-one by an inch on a 210-yard, par 3.

Favorite club:
3 wood

Favorite golfing gadget:
Ball retriever

Side bets:
A friendly wager every now and again but for small amounts

Favorite area course:
Since coming to Milwaukee last summer, I’ve only had the chance to play Whistling Straits and Ozaukee Country Club, which are two very nice courses. I can’t say I have a favorite because I haven’t played enough of them in the area. So if anyone is looking to play, feel free to give me a call.

Where do you travel in the country to golf:
I’ve been to Hilton Head. Otherwise, anywhere within a reasonable driving distance.

Walking or cart:
Cart, unless there’s a caddie.
