MILWAUKEE -- The Milwaukee Bucks have selected forward Joe Alexander with the 8th pick in the first round of the 2008 NBA Draft.

Alexander (6-8, 230) comes to Milwaukee following a three-year collegiate career at West Virginia. After playing just 10 games in his freshman campaign, the 21-year-old Alexander logged back-to-back 36-game seasons during his sophomore and junior years, averaging 13.6 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.2 assists during that time. He earned First Team All-Big East Honors during the 2007-08 season and was named an Honorable Mention All-American by The Associated Press. Alexander helped lead the 10th-seeded Mountaineers to the Sweet Sixteen of the 2008 NCAA Tournament, including a second round upset over second-seeded Duke.

Alexander lived abroad for the first eight years of his life. He was born in Taiwan and also spent time in China and Hong Kong. When he steps on the court for the first time, he will become the first Taiwanese-born player to play in the NBA.
