Bulls earn No. 14 pick in NBA Draft Lottery

Tuesday, May 17, 2016 - As a result of the 2016 NBA Draft Lottery, the Chicago Bulls claimed the No. 14 pick for the 2016 NBA Draft.

Chicago entered the night in the 14th slot, having finished with the best record of all non-playoff teams in 2015-16 at 42-40. The Bulls had a 0.5 percent shot of landing the top pick in this year’s draft, and a 1.8 percent chance at selecting in one of the top three positions. This marks the second occasion that Chicago has held the No. 14 pick, the last being in 1974 when the Bulls took Maurice Lucas of Marquette.

Chicago will make their first-round selection in Lottery position for the first time since 2008, when the team was awarded the first overall pick and drafted 2010-11 MVP and three-time All Star Derrick Rose.

The Bulls also have the 48th selection in the second round through Portland, from Cleveland, as a result of the Luol Deng trade to the Cavaliers on Jan. 6, 2014. Chicago’s own pick at 47 went to Orlando as a part of the trade for Anthony Randolph on July 14, 2014, in which the Magic received the more favorable of the Bulls’ two 2016 second-round picks.

The 2016 NBA Draft will take place on June 23 in Brooklyn, N.Y.
