READ TO ACHIEVE IS A YEAR-ROUND CAMPAIGN DESIGNED to help young people develop a life-long love for reading and encourage adults to read regularly with children. The program reaches thousands of elementary, middle and high school students in Northeast Ohio through reading time-outs, book drives and donations, writing contests, and the construction of Reading & Learning Centers.

has addressed the importance of higher education. Once again in 2007, 10 graduating high school seniors from Northeast Ohio will receive $1,000 scholarships through the Cavaliers/FirstMerit Scholarship program.

THE ALL-STAR KIDS AWARDS ARE PRESENTED MONTHLY throughout the school year. Moondog and Cavaliers legends make surprise visits to each of the recipients' schools to present winners with a super-sized ticket to a Cavaliers' game and a prize pack.

THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS ARE PROUD TO LAUNCH STRAIGHT A ALL-STARS,
a program that rewards students for high scholastic achievement. The program is open to all elementary and middle school students, grades K-8 in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Summit, Medina, Portage, Geauga, Lake, and Ashtabula counties.
The first grading period Straight “A” contest has ended, be sure to get your report cards for the second grading period sent in. The deadline for registration for the second grading period is Monday, February 11, 2008. Students who earn all A’s on their report cards for the second grading period will have the chance to win two tickets to the Cavaliers vs. Pacers game on Saturday, March 8, 2007. The Cleveland Cavaliers will randomly select 250 entrants to receive game tickets and a Straight “A” All-Stars t-shirt. THE CLEVELAND CAVALIERS FIT AS A PRO
Fit As A Pro, presented by Medical Mutual, is a initiative developed by the Cleveland Cavaliers to encourage exercise and well-balanced eating among children. The program is open to all elementary and middle school students, grades K-8, in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Summit, Medina, Portage, Geauga and Lake counties. Your participating students will receive one Fit As A Pro fitness card to track their daily exercise and one Fit As A Pro nutrition poster. To read more Click Here

THE FULL-COURT PRESS PROGRAM
During the 2005-06 season the Cleveland Cavaliers were pleased to introduce Full Court Press, a program designed to expose high school students to the world of journalism in professional sports. The program is open to all students grades 9-12 in Cuyahoga, Lorain, Summit, Medina, Portage, Geauga, and Lake Counties. READING & LEARNING CENTERS AND CORNERS
In an effort to provide children in the Northeast Ohio region with better access to books and technology, the Cavaliers’ create Reading & Learning Centers and Corners in community-based organizations and schools. By establishing Reading & Learning Corners, the Cavaliers hope to enhance the parent and family involvement in a child’s reading activities. The Corners provide qualified non-profit organizations or schools with a collection of over 500 books, posters, bookmarks and Cavaliers team merchandise.
Since 2003, the Cavlaiers have opened five Reading and Learning Centers.

NEWSPAPER IN EDUCATION
In partnership with The Plain Dealer
The Cavaliers and The Plain Dealer provide teachers in Northeast Ohio with a unique approach to teaching math. While learning about the Cavaliers, students review and reinforce basic math skills by analyzing numbers connected with the game of basketball. Last season, over 400 elementary and middle school teachers were provided with a curriculum guide and delivery of The Plain Dealer at no charge for use in the classroom.
