Cavaliers teammates Ira Newble and Jeff McInnis teamed up with Bridges Restaurant Manager Pat Goode to give 50 fifth graders from Brooklawn Elementary School in Cleveland some valuable lessons on the importance of nutrition to maintain a healthy lifestyle.

As a reward for participating in the team’s “Fit As A Pro” program, the students had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with the players about the role good nutrition plays in keeping them physically fit. The students earned this once-in-a-lifetime experience by creating their own healthy recipes as part of the nutrition challenge during the month of March.

The students were broken up into groups, each making a different healthy dish for lunch with the assistance of the players. The menu included veggie wraps, fruit kabobs and blended smoothies. The students then sat down to a healthy buffet lunch with the players.

The Cavaliers’ Fit As A Pro program is designed to promote physical fitness and healthy eating habits among elementary school children in Cuyahoga County. Fit As A Pro is presented in association with Smith’s Dairy.
