CLEVELAND, OH - July 7th, 2008 - On Monday afternoon, the NBA, Cleveland Cavaliers and Toyota teamed up with Habitat for Humanity to build a brand new home from the ground up for one local family. Cleveland Cavaliers GM Danny Ferry, assistant coach John Kuester and Cavaliers Legends Campy Russell, Jim Chones and Bingo Smith join team volunteers and Toyota staff in framing the four walls to the new home for Darnesah Ford and her two daughters. This home was Toyota Project Rebound’s 15th and final community initiative this season throughout the country.
Toyota Project Rebound is a community initiative established by the NBA and Toyota. The program includes 15 hands-on community service projects that will be hosted by NBA and WNBA teams, and will include court refurbishments, the creation of Learn & Play Centers, and other Legacy Projects providing youth safe places to live, learn or play. Projects have been scheduled throughout the 2007-08 season, including during major events like NBA All-Star and The Finals.
