Pre-Audition Workshops held at Lake Shore Dance & Gymnastics

CLEVELAND, OH - June 3rd, 2008 - The Cleveland Cavaliers will conduct auditions for the 2008-2009 Cavalier Girls Dance Team on Saturday, June 28th at Quicken Loans Arena. The Cavalier Girls consists of a group of women who uphold a high standard of quality dance performance and community involvement. This high-caliber popular NBA dance team performs and entertains fans at all Cavs home games and playoff games, and participates in corporate, community and charity-based activities throughout the year.

Auditions are open to all dancers, cheerleaders or anyone who loves to perform. Judging will be based on dance ability, crowd appeal, showmanship and individual resumes. During the preliminary round contestants will learn choreography in small groups and perform in front of a panel of judges. Auditions are closed to the public, family and friends.

It is strongly recommended that candidates participate in the Cavaliers pre-audition workshops at Lakeshore Dance and Gymnastics. The cost of a two-hour session is $20. The workshop focuses on what it takes to be a Cavalier Girls dance team member, including warm-ups, technique and skills, choreography, combination routines and more. Finalists chosen in the preliminary round will be invited back Sunday, June 29th for a solo performance, interview and swimsuit photo. On Monday, June 30th a finalist meet and greet mixer will be held.

Requirements include that candidates must be 21 years old by November 1, 2008 (there is no maximum age limit). Team members must have reliable means of transportation and flexible schedules for rehearsals three times a week, 46 plus games, and various community and promotional appearances during and prior to the 2008-2009 season. All team members must be a full time student or have a part time job.

Interested candidates are encouraged to pre-register by June 25th by mailing a resume and registration application (download at cavs.com) including all dance/cheer/performance background information along with a non-returnable 4x6 photograph and a $10 non-refundable application fee to the address below.
