CLEVELAND, May 25, 2006 – The Cavalier Girls, the NBA Cleveland Cavaliers’ popular dance team, are expanding its recruiting outreach for the 2006-07 squad. Preliminary auditions will be held at the following locations offering select dancers invitations to the finals for the Cleveland Auditions June 24-27..

Dancers interested in auditioning should bring a photo, resume and a $5 registration fee. Pre-registration is not necessary; all participants will be walk-ups.

Auditions are open to all dancers, cheerleaders or anyone who loves to perform. Dancers attending the preliminaries will be led in a group warm-up, review across-the-floor technique and learn a short dance combination featuring jazz and hip-hop styles. Judging will be based on dance ability, crowd appeal, showmanship and individual resumes.

Requirements include that candidates must be 18 years old by November 1, 2006. There is no maximum age limit. Team members must have reliable means of transportation and flexible schedules for rehearsals three times a week, 46 plus games and various community and promotional appearances during and prior to the 2006/2007 NBA season.

Dancers who audition in Pittsburgh, Columbus or Toledo will still be required to attend auditions in Cleveland. Invitations given at the Pittsburgh, Columbus and Toledo auditions will guarantee dancers a bid into finals of the Cleveland audition. All details will be given at auditions.
