Rivers: Griffin, Paul To Rest Against Warriors; Barnes Gets Start

Rowan Kavner

Head coach Doc Rivers said before the game that forward Blake Griffin and guard Chris Paul will both get to rest as the Clippers face the Warriors. He said neither player is dealing with an injury, but he wanted to give them the night off.

Paul’s the only player to already have logged 150 minutes of playing time in the preseason. Griffin’s 143 minutes is third on the team, behind only Paul and DeAndre Jordan.

Forward Chris Douglas-Roberts will return from his ankle injury, but it’s Matt Barnes who will get his second start of the preseason at small forward as he looks to get his shot back in gear.

Barnes said Monday his shooting struggles can be frustrating, but he’s not worried about it and knows as a veteran he shouldn’t change what he’s done dramatically.

“Luckily, it's the preseason and none of it counts,” Barnes said. “I think as a team, we want to continue to improve, get better, stay healthy. But you keep everything in perspective, with the way we're playing, the way I'm shooting in particular. It's preseason. We have a couple more games to figure things out before it really counts."

While Paul and Griffin are out just to rest, guard Jordan Farmer (back) and Glen Davis (groin) are still out with injuries.
