The National Basketball Association today announced that Los Angeles Clippers guard Chris Paul has been named Western Conference Player of the Week for games played Monday, Mar. 16, through Sunday, Mar. 22. Dwyane Wade of the Miami Heat was the Eastern Conference winner.
Paul helped the Clippers to a 4-0 week behind averages of 26.0 points, 11.3 assists, 4.8 rebounds and 2.0 steals. He posted three double-doubles during the week and scored at least 30 points twice. He was also an NBA-best +71 points while on the court.
On Mar. 20 against Washington, the All-Star point guard collected 30 points, 15 assists, six rebounds and a steal while committing just one turnover in a 113-99 win. Paul is one of only 14 players since 1985-86 to record 30+ points and 15+ assists without turning the ball over more than once. In a pivotal game for Western Conference Playoff seeding, Paul had 23 points, seven rebounds, 11 assists and four steals in a 107-100 win over New Orleans on Mar. 22.
Paul is the only player in the NBA averaging at least 18.5 points, 10 assists, 4.5 rebounds and 1.5 steals. He leads the NBA in assists (10.1) and assist/turnover ratio (4.24) while ranking 7th in steals (1.87).
