Ham attended Saginaw High School, Otero Junior College in La Junta, Colorado and finished his collegiate career at Texas Tech University. While playing for Texas Tech, he gained national attention by shattering the backboard on a slam dunk during the 1996 NCAA Tournament against UNC. The dunk was featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated.
Ham has played with six teams in the NBA from 1996-97 to 2004-05. He has played internationally in Puerto Rico, Philippines and Spain. He spent the 2004-05 and 2003-04 seasons with the Detroit Pistons. With the Atlanta Hawks in 2002-03, the Milwaukee Bucks for three seasons from 1999 to 2002 and with the Washington Bullets in 1997-98. He spent his rookie season with the NBA Denver Nuggets and the Indiana Pacers.
Ham has also done work as the NBA studio analyst for Fox Sports Southwest. Ham is the son of Wilmer Jones-Ham, who served as the mayor of Saginaw from 2001-2005.
