JAM ACQUIRE MICHAEL CUFFEE FROM UTAH

Trade sends Britton Johnsen to Flash

(Bakersfield, Calif., Jan. 10, 2007) – The Bakersfield Jam, members of the NBA Development League, today announced they have traded for guard Michael Cuffee from the Utah Flash for Britton Johnsen, who was acquired earlier in the week by Bakersfield. Cuffee will join the team tomorrow and pending a physical will be eligible for tomorrow night’s game versus Sioux Falls.

“The addition of Michael provides us with outstanding depth at the guard position,” said Interim Head Coach Sean Rooks. “We expect him to contribute immediately and he’ll fit nicely into our rotation.”

Cuffee was a second round draft pick of the Flash in this year’s NBA Development League draft and has appeared in all 17 games for Utah this season. The 24-year old is averaging 9.9 ppg and 2.9 rpg, including a season-high 24 points on November 27 versus Dakota. Cuffee made his first start of the season on Wednesday against Rio Grande Valley, posting 16 points against the Vipers.

Prior to the 2007-08 Development League season, Cuffee played with the Oklahoma Storm of the USBL, averaging 15.6 ppg. He spent the 2006-07 season in Finland with Lappeenranta NMKY, averaging 18.5 points and 7.7 rebounds in 44 games, and played in Denmark with the Skovbakken Bears in 2005-06, averaging 19.9 points and 7.6 rebounds in 20 games. The Philadelphia native played his collegiate ball at Middle Tennessee State, averaging 14.3 points and 7.4 rebounds en route to being named to the third team of the Sun-Belt Conference.
