Haluska Returns To Iowa

Des Moines, Iowa (March 11, 2008) – The Iowa Energy have acquired former University of Iowa standout Adam Haluska from the Rio Grande Valley Vipers as part of a three-team trade.

Haluska, a 6-5, 210 pound guard, was selected by the New Orleans Hornets in the second round of the 2007 NBA Draft. He was traded to the Houston Rockets in February 2008, but was released soon after the trade.

The Carroll, Iowa native was a shooting guard for Iowa, where he scored 1,847 career points. In 2007 he was named a First-Team All-Big Ten player and also named the Academic All-American of the Year on the 2007 ESPN The Magazine's Academic All-American Division I men's basketball team.

Other players included in the trade were Iowa Energy guard Mike Efevberha, who was sent to the Anaheim Arsenal, and Arsenal forward Ivan Johnson, who was sent to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Haluska is expected to play in tonight’s Energy game against the Sioux Falls Skyforce in Sioux Falls, S.D. Tip-off is at 7 p.m.

Haluska will make his debut in Wells Fargo Arena on Wednesday, March 19 when the Energy take on the Anaheim Arsenal. Tip-off is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
