Of the nine draft-day deals, three stood out. Ray Allen, Zach Randolph and Jason Richardson will all be suiting up for new squads in the fall.

Allen to Team Up With Pierce

Paul Pierce has been the lead actor in the on-the-court drama that is the Celtics for the past nine seasons. But after playing a starring role in Boston to mixed reviews, the producers decided to rewrite the script.

Pierce will now have a co-star.

The Sonics shipped the sweet-shooting Allen to the Celtics for Delonte West, Wally Szczerbiak and Jeff Green, who Boston selected with the No. 5 pick. The Celtics also received Seattle’s 35th pick (Glen Davis).

While Allen doesn’t automatically transform the Celtics into title contenders, his addition to a roster that also includes up-and-coming standout Al Jefferson will be enough to get Boston back into the postseason.

Speculation had run wild in the weeks leading up to the Draft about who was going to be Pierce’s new partner in crime with a trio of superstars, Phoenix's Amare Stoudemire and Shawn Marion, along with Garnett, expected to be headed to the east.

While none of those deals were completed, it is hard to argue with Boston pulling the trigger on the Allen trade. Allen is one of the greatest marksmen in league history. For his career he is shooting close to 40 percent from beyond the arc and 90 percent from the free-throw line.

The seven-time All-Star averaged 26.4 points this past season in 55 games, including scoring a career-best 54 against the Jazz in January. He holds the NBA record for 3-pointers made in a season (269). Also, he has led the league in 3-pointers made three times and is the co-record holder for treys made in one half of a game with eight.

Besides being the leading scorer for the Sonics, Allen was also the face of the franchise. That honor now falls to Kevin Durant, who Seattle selected with the second pick.

Knicks Acquire Randolph From Blazers

The high fives, fist pumps and loud screams inside the WaMu Theater at Madison Square Garden told you all you needed to know. The Knicks had just did something the crowd agreed with … in a very big way.

New York traded Steve Francis and Channing Frye to Portland for Dan Dickau, Fred Jones and Randolph, a rising star.

Randolph was one of the most improved players in the league last season, putting up career numbers of 23.6 points and 10.1 rebounds per game. He became expendable after the Blazers drafted Greg Oden with the first overall pick. Like Randolph, Oden plays on the block.

Randolph instantly becomes one of the top low-post players in the Eastern Conference and will team with Eddy Curry to make a strong frontline in New York.

J-Rich Goes to Charlotte

Richardson was a key player for the Warriors, who pulled off the biggest playoff upset in NBA history this past season. That shocker over the Mavericks will be Richardson's final highlight in a Golden State uniform as he was traded along with the 36th selection, Jermareo Davidson, to the Bobcats for Brandan Wright, whom Charlotte selected Thursday with the eighth pick.

Richardson averaged 16 points, 5.1 rebounds and 3.4 assists per contest for the Warriors last season and will help make the Bobcats more athletic. Meanwhile, the Warriors got a very talented player that they will be able to build around.
