Rome
![]() |
Step back in time and picture life as a gladiator in the Colosseum, one of the world’s most atmospheric monuments. Step into the Pantheon, a temple which ranks among the greatest of creations or marvel at the beauty – and the coin-throwing crowds – around the Trevi Fountain. Or climb one of Roman’s hills and savour the view over a city of nearly four million people.
Life in Rome is to be found as much in its streets as its buildings, with the buzz of motorcycles and the chatter of the Italians over their morning cappuccino or their evening gelato – digesting the latest soccer chat about Lazio or Roma or the World Cup winning Azzurri. There may be history everywhere but the present is very exciting too!
Treviso
Treviso, located just a short distance from Venice, is one the strongholds of European basketball. Its gymnasium, La Ghirada, is owned and operated by United Colors of Benetton and it has staged the highly praised Basketball without Borders Europe event on four occasions.
It is a colourful city, much like its close neighbour, with narrow alleys scything away from the network of canals which flow through its ancient centre. Its hospitality is famous (something which will be extended this October to the Phoenix Suns) while its bars and restaurants are one of the prides of Italy.
La Piazza dei Signori is the both the heart and symbol of the city, spreading out under the bell tower and Palazzo dei Trecento which are located in the square. Here the locals gather, particularly on the nights when music and theatre is being staged at the recently renovated Teatro Comunale.
