The Hawks became an NBA franchise in 1949. Back then they were known as the Tri-Cities Blackhawks but quickly moved to Milwaukee and became known as the Milwaukee Hawks. They moved again in 1955 and were the St. Louis Hawks for 13 years before moving to Atlanta in 1968.
