HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley

On the game:
“It’s getting old, losing all these close games. We got thirty more shots than them and twenty offensive rebounds. We can’t get a break. It’s just a testimony to how hard my guys played. One of the reasons why we shot the ball so poorly is because their angst, their effort, their want and their will is over the top and everyone is just trying to aim the ball into the basket. We played the game well we just shot it poorly. We just needed to make another four or five shots.”

On the HEAT’s final possession:
“I’d take that shot again. He (Travis Best) got a great look at it. It’s the same shot he got the other night against New York.”

On the HEAT's defense:
“We played with a lot of energy and we were very aware of what they wanted to do. I think we took them out of the rhythm of a very methodical game that they play. They were probably a little tired from last night, like we were.”

HEAT Forward/Center Brian Grant

On the game:
“We shot 28 percent, so he (Tim Duncan) got all the rebounds. It was an all out brawl. It was a good game, a good battle, a good war. They took the lead and we had to fight back. We finally cut it and had the opportunities, but there are no moral victories. It is just another disappointment. We hung in there tight and played our butts off defensively.”

HEAT Guard Eddie Jones

On the game:
“I think if we had shot a little better we would have won. It’s also partially my fault, being a nine year player out here making the mistakes I made is ridiculous. I turned the ball over down the stretch. I’m really upset with myself about this loss. If I had better ball control we would have won this game.”

HEAT Forward Caron Butler

On the game:
“We played hard and did a tremendous job on both ends of the floor. It was just plays at the end. We still had our looks, I had a great look (at the end of the game) and it just went in and out.”

Spurs Head Coach Gregg Popovich

On the game:
“As one would guess, two good defensive teams played tonight. Both defensive teams went after each other. Offensively not to pretty either way, but a lot of effort, a lot of tenacity, a lot of defense, and we were fortunate enough to make a shot down the stretch. Miami could have just as easily made a shot, so we feel very fortunate to come out of here tonight with a win.”

On Tim Duncan:
“Brian Grant did an excellent job tonight. They fronted him all night long and went after him. We knew that was going to happen and fortunately he is also very unselfish and makes other people better. He played a really good team game and got everyone else involved. Their defense is really good, therefore you have to move bodies to the basketball and we did the best we could.”

On the turnovers:
“When we have trouble winning games, nine times out of ten it’s turnovers. Sometimes we’ll get beat on the offensive boards and that isn’t a huge deal, but the turnovers for us is a huge deal. That is why I feel very lucky coming out of here tonight with a win because we had so many turnovers.”

On the road trip:
“I think this is a great trip, I’m enjoying it, because it really allows our team to pull together and think about the intangibles that gets you through the season and the playoffs. Things like mental toughness, attention to detail, playing for 48 minutes and understanding the team has to be involved and it might be different people each night. They really learn to play with each other in trips like this. I think it is a great thing for us.”

Spurs Forward/Center Tim Duncan

On the game:
“This was kind of a special one. The HEAT got 36 more shots than we had. We turned the ball over 27 times and only score 67 points after scoring a hundred for several games in a row. We are just happy to get the win.”

On the turnovers:
“They are going to bite us in the butt if we don’t take care of it. We did a better job for a little while there in the second half. I am just happy to win the game.”

Spurs Center David Robinson

On the game:
“I looked up in the fourth quarter and it was in the 60’s opposed to last night where it was in the 50’s at the half. This was not necessarily the type of game we want to play. Our turnovers just killed us. We were giving the ball away. We need to be a lot better then that. Tim [Duncan] was terrific on the boards.”

On his knee:
“It was a little sore at the beginning of the game and then I just banged it and it got real sore. We talked about it at the half and sitting out was the right thing to do.”
