HEAT Head Coach Pat Riley
On Jason Kidd:
"He is one of the candidates for Most Valuable Player. He just took over the game. Kidd just
took over and was not going to let his team lose. That's just the mark of a great player taking
over."
On Nets' second quarter play:
"We started the game solid. It wasn't until I went to the bench that it unraveled for us. The
score was 21 - 20. It was a 17 - 0 run where we had four or five consecutive turnovers. The
primary reason is that players simply didn't get to the spots they were supposed to be at on the
court."
HEAT Forward/Center Brian Grant
On the Nets' defense:
"They went from zone to man, man to zone and it threw us off our rhythm but it shouldn't have.
We got a lot of good open looks at the basket and we didn't make shots at times. Then the
turnovers killed us. We had three or four straight turnovers and they scored, extended the lead
and busted the game open."
On the Nets' play:
"Jason hit a three and so did a couple other guys on the team. They did a good job playing our
zone. They made the right rotations and they made the big shots."
HEAT Forward Caron Butler
On Jason Kidd:
"He made big plays down the stretch. He got a hot hand and he knows how to use his skills. He
shot the ball well and he got his teammates involved. He was feeding people. Even though he
finished with seven or eight turnovers, he was consistent down the stretch."
On Miami's future:
"Eventually better things will happen for us. Next year, we are looking forward to it.
You don't like to have this type of feeling."
Nets Head Coach Byron Scott
On the game:
"This is a good win against Miami. In my opinion, they are one of the hardest teams to play in
this league because they play so hard for 48 minutes. They are a very disciplined basketball
team. Our guys picked it up, especially in the second half and Jason Kidd led the charge and we
got a win."
On Jason Kidd:
"He's not bad. He can take over a game when he wants to and tonight he did it. He got it going
in the third quarter and was knocking down shots."
Nets Guard Kerry Kittles
On being banged up:
"I am a little banged up but you have to fight through it sometimes."
"He took off there. No question about it. Everyone watching the game saw it. They didn't have
anything for him basically down the stretch."
Nets Forward Richard Jefferson
On importance of game:
"They are one of the hardest working teams in the NBA without a doubt. They play extremely hard
for the entire game, so it is not very hard to get up for that kind of game."
On Kidd taking over the game:
"We have to rely on it sometimes. That is why he is a six or seven time NBA All-Star. You are
excited and it is great to watch. You just come to expect that from him."
