HEAT Players, Coaches and Broadcasters Create Black History Month Vignettes
Most exciting about this project is the unprecedented cooperation of both the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Broward County Public Schools districts. Both school districts have agreed to air one HEAT Black History Month vignette during each school day during the month of February on their in-school broadcast system. This endeavor between the HEAT and the Miami-Dade County Public Schools and the Broward County Public Schools comes about thanks to the well-established relationships between the team and the two school districts, which will help provide a fresh outlook and voice for the districts’ Black History Month activities.
“The Broward County Public Schools is pleased to be involved in this important effort to teach our students important lessons during the month set aside to focus on the significant contributions African Americans have made to this country throughout history,” said Keith Bromery, Director of Communications & Media Relations, Broward County Public Schools. The HEAT will continue to team up with both school districts for future education-related programs, including a HEAT-produced FCAT video “pep rally”, reading activities as part of the HEAT “Read to Achieve” program and the HEAT Scholarships program, where the HEAT provide college scholarships to deserving students. The video vignettes will also air during each Miami HEAT television game broadcast in February on Sun Sports, during HEAT games at AmericanAirlines Arena on HEATV and on the team’s website, HEAT.com. Video vignettes will also be distributed to both local and national media. Audio versions of the vignettes will air during HEAT radio game broadcasts on the team’s flagship radio station, Newsradio 610 WIOD, while text versions will appear in the HEAT e-newsletter, Live Wire and in the in-arena game day program, The HEAT Experience.
