Febraury 26 The HEAT and WJAN-Channel 41 reached an agreement to broadcast select Miami HEAT games in Spanish to the South Florida TV audience.
March 15 Alonzo Mourning was named NBA Player of the Week for the week of March 8-14.
April 1 Alonzo Mourning had six blocked shots versus Philadelphia to record his 611th block since joining Miami to surpass Rony Seikaly as the HEAT's all-time leading shot blocker. Activated forward Jamal Mashburn from the injured list and placed forward Terry Mills (sore left knee) on the injured list.
April 7 Pat Riley surpassed Dick Motta for fourth place on the all-time victory list with his 936th career win, 93-87 vs. Dallas.
April 13 Pat Riley surpassed Red Auerbach for third place on the NBA's all-time victory list with his 939th career win, a 90-74 victory vs. Chicago. Activated guard Voshon Lenard from the injured list and placed guard/forward Blue Edwards (plantar fasciaitis in his left foot) on the injured list.
April 14 Guard/forward Keith Askins surpassed guard/forward Glen Rice for first place on the HEAT all-time games played list with his 479th career game played with Miami (@ Milwaukee), becoming the only undrafted player among the 29 NBA teams to lead his team in games played.
April 22 Guard Tim Hardaway surpassed guard Bimbo Coles with his 1,947th assist as a member of the HEAT in a victory at Orlando to become Miami's all-time leader in assists. Miami clinched its sixth playoff berth in club history with 75-70 win at Orlando. Activated center Marty Conlon from the injured list and placed guard Rex Walters (patellar tendinitis in his right knee) on the injured list.
April 27 Pat Riley surpassed Bill Fitch for second place on the NBA's all-time victory list with his 945th career win, a 95-76 victory at New Jersey.
May 1 Activated guard Rex Walters and guard/forward Blue Edwards from the injured list and placed guard/forward Keith Askins (deep thigh contusion in his right leg) and center Marty Conlon (tendinitis in his right hand) on the injured list.
May 4 Following a win over Atlanta, the HEAT clinched its third consecutive Atlantic Division title and its first number one seed in the Eastern Conference Playoffs.
May 5 Activated forward Terry Mills from the injured list and placed center Alonzo Mourning (right hip pointer and a slight fracture of his right eye orbit) on the injured list.
May 13 Center Alonzo Mourning is named to the NBA's All-Defensive First Team with forward P.J. Brown being named to the NBA's All-Defensive Second Team.
May 19 Center Alonzo Mourning is named the winner of the NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award for the 1998-99 season.
June 8 It was announced that center Alonzo Mourning was named to the All-NBA First Team with guard Tim Hardaway receiving All-NBA Second Team honors.
June 30 HEAT drafts forward Tim James in the first round (25th overall) and guard/forward Rodney Buford in the second round (53rd overall) of the 1999 NBA Draft.

December 7 Guard/forward Dan Majerle scored the 10,000th point of his career in Miami's 86-76 victory at Portland.
December 11 Center Alonzo Mourning scored the 10,000 point of his career in a 23-point, 10-rebound performance at Seattle.
December 13 Alonzo Mourning was named NBA Player of the Week for the week of December 6-12. It marked the fifth time in his career - and fourth time with the HEAT - that he won the award.
