HEAT’s Loren Woods Selected in Expansion Draft

MIAMI, June 22 - The Miami HEAT announced today that the Charlotte Bobcats have selected HEAT center Loren Woods in the expansion draft.

Woods, who signed with the HEAT as a free agent on August 8, 2003, appeared in 38 games during the 2003-04 season. He averaged 3.2 points and 3.5 rebounds in 13.3 minutes per game.

A 7’1” center from St. Louis, Missouri, Woods was drafted in the second round (46th overall) by the Minnesota Timberwolves in the 2001 NBA Draft. In his first two seasons with the Timberwolves, Woods averaged 1.9 points and 2.2 rebounds. A collegiate standout at Arizona, Woods averaged 14.3 points, 7.0 rebounds, 1.8 assists and 3.38 blocked shots in 55 games during his two-year stint at the University (1999-2000 and 2000-01).
