HEAT Activate Beasley, Place Wade on Injured List

MIAMI, Jan. 2 - Miami HEAT President Pat Riley announced prior to tonight’s game with the Orlando Magic that the HEAT has activated forward Jerome Beasley from the injured list and placed guard Dwyane Wade on the injured list with a bone contusion of his right wrist.

Beasley, a 6’10”, 237-pound forward, was placed on the injured list on Nov. 19 with a lower back strain. The HEAT’s second-round draft pick in the 2003 NBA Draft, Beasley has appeared in two games and has totaled two points and one rebound in five minutes.

Wade, a 6’4”, 212-pound guard, who originally sustained the injury in a fall during Miami’s win at Washington on Dec. 26, is expected to have a cast on the injured wrist for at least two weeks. The cast will be removed and he will be re-evaluated after one week. Wade, who was Miami’s top pick in the 2003 NBA Draft (fifth overall), has started all 29 games in which he has appeared in this season and has averaged 16.2 points, a team-high 4.4 assists, 4.2 rebounds, a team-leading 1.28 steals and 36.5 minutes. He also leads the HEAT in field goal percentage (.453) and dunks (27).
