Shaquille and Shaunie O’Neal Rally South Florida Support for Survivors of Hurricane Katrina

MIAMI, September 7 — Miami HEAT Superstar Shaquille O'Neal and his wife Shaunie have launched an emergency relief effort to help provide important bare essentials to the victims of Hurricane Katrina.

In response to this disaster, the O’Neal family is encouraging South Florida residents to join in their effort to provide key resources that address the urgent and critical needs of disaster victims, including toiletries and personal health aides. This effort, which launched Monday, September 5, will continue through Saturday, September 10.

Concerned individuals can now drop off health and hygiene supplies at AmericanAirlines Arena on Saturday, September 10 from 8AM-5PM ONLY. Donators should enter arena property on 8th Street and drop off their items at the trailer. They should then exit arena property using the Port Boulevard exit.

Additionally, individuals can make donations at any of the eight South Florida El Dorado furniture stores any time during store hours through Saturday, September 10, 2005. The O’Neal family will arrange transportation of all items collected to Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

The O’Neal family joins the rest of the nation in their concern and support for the survivors of Hurricane Katrina and prays that everyone will do their part to help relieve the burden of these victims.

At this time the Miami HEAT organization is still in the process of finalizing its plans to assist in aiding Hurricane Katrina victims. An announcement will be forthcoming.
