MIAMI, April 9 - With regard to the incident on April 9th, I would like to thank so many people for their support and for their encouragement. To my teammates, the Miami HEAT organization, and the Miami HEAT community that have embraced me so warmly, and to my family, loved ones, and friends, I apologize for any embarrassment or concern this has caused. I acknowledge that professional athletes are often held out as role models, and you may rest assured that I accept this tremendous responsibility willingly.

Concerning the specifics of that evening, I appreciate full well the seriousness of this situation. For now, please know that I was neither intoxicated nor was I driving at the time. However, out of respect to the police, and to the legal process which must follow, it would be inappropriate for me to comment further at this moment.
