Boozer visits Utah

Boozer

Duke junior Carlos Boozer was brought in Tuesday, May 28, for a Jazz pre-draft workout. Following the private workout with Jazz coaches the 6-9 power forward took time out to speak with utahjazz.com and the local media.

On the workout:
Boozer: It was only about an hour and 15 minutes, but it was a very good workout.

Have you visited other teams?
Boozer: I went to Phoenix, Lakers and Denver. Later this week I will go to Clippers and Golden State.

On coming to Utah
Boozer: I would love to be in Utah, I think it would be a great place for me, I think it would be a really good fit and I love to be a Jazzman.

Talk about your game
Boozer: I'm a power forward. I play in the post, I can extend my game out to the perimeter a little bit but I'm defiantly a banger inside, a defender inside and a scorer inside.

Would you like coming to a place where you could learn from a guy like Karl Malone?
Boozer: Oh yea, why not learn from the best power forward. If he's willing to teach me, I'm willing to learn.

Do you have a sense on where you might fall in the draft?
Boozer: Not yet, it's too early I think.

Would you be able to play in the five spot too?
Boozer: Maybe a little bit, I'm a little undersized for that. They [the Jazz] have some taller guys who can take care of that [the five spot].

Boozer: If they [the Jazz] want me, I'd love to be here.

On the workout:
We try to see coachablity. Obviously 45 minutes out here isn't going to tell a whole lot, the only thing it tells us is a little bit on how he handles coaching and how he handles instructions. We want to sit down and talk to him as an individual.

On Boozer
When you bring someone in that has been well coached, and obviously he's been well coached, the biggest concern that we have is potential, it gets a lot of guys in trouble. What you compare is what you actually see. If you watched him last year, what you actually saw was somebody that was a force inside, somebody that can shoot the ball a little bit.

On what the Jazz are looking for out of this year's draft.
When you draft at 19, you are at the mercy of 18 other teams. We are going to draft the best player available. I think there are a couple positions we feel stronger about than others but I think it's going to be the best player available.
