September 13, 2002 --- Utah Jazz Vice President of Basketball Operations Kevin O'Connor announced today that the team has reached an agreement with guard
Carlos Arroyo.
The 6-2 Ruerto Rico native, spent the 2001-2002 season with the Toronto Raptors and Denver Nuggets, averaging a combined 3.0 points and 1.9 assists in 10.0 minutes in 37 games, but scored 4.1 points and 2.5 assists with the Nuggets in 20 games.
He scored a season-high 12 points vs. Houston on April 16, 2002 and served up a season-high 8 assists in his first career start vs. Detroit on March 18, 2002.
He helped lead Puerto Rico to a seventh place finish in the just completed World Championships, where is averaged 11.6 points and 6.4 assists in eight games.

A four-year letterman at Florida International University, Arroyo scored 16.0 points and 4.6 in 100 career games and was a two-time All-Sun Belt selection. As a senior he averaged 21.2 points, 17th highest scoring in the nation and 4.0 assists. He set a school record with 39 points against North Texas.
Arroyo led the Denver Nuggets to a perfect 6-0 mark in the 2002 Rocky Mountain Revue, where he scored 6.2 points and 3.0 assists in 18.0 minutes per game.
He is the fifth player from Puerto Rico to play in the NBA, including former Jazzman, Jose Ortiz.
