Salt Lake City, UT – Utah Jazz Senior Vice President of Basketball Operations, Kevin O’Connor, announced today that the team has signed restricted free agent
Carlos Boozer to an offer sheet. Per club policy terms of the deal were not disclosed. Under the Collective Bargaining Agreement set forth by the National Basketball Association, the Cleveland Cavaliers will have 15 days to match the offer.
Selected by the Cavaliers in the second round (35th pick overall) of the 2002 NBA Draft Boozer played and started in 75 games for the Cavaliers during the 2003-04 season and averaged 15.5 points and 11.4 rebounds (fifth overall in the league) in 34.6 minutes per game.
The 6-9 forward has played in 156 career games (129 starts) over two seasons with the Cavaliers and has averaged 12.6 points and 9.4 rebounds in 29.8 minutes per game.
Boozer finished his collegiate career at Duke as their all-time leader in field goal percentage .631 (554-878) which is third all-time in the ACC. Played in 101 games as a Blue Devil and averaged 14.9 points and 7.2 rebounds in three seasons.
