Salt Lake City, UT – Utah Jazz Sr. Vice President
of Basketball Operations, Kevin O’Connor, announced this morning that the team
has signed former Jazz guard Howard Eisley.
The 6-2 guard spent
last season with the New York Knicks and Phoenix Suns, where he combined to
play in 67 games, averaging 6.9 points and 4.0 assists. He began the 2003-04 Season with New York, but traded to Phoenix
on January 5, 2004 in the deal that sent Stephon Marbury and Penny Hardaway to New York.
He played for the
Jazz from 1995 to 2000, where he saw action in 361 games, scoring 6.5 points
and 3.4 assists. He played in 79 career
playoff games for Utah,
including both seasons the team played in the NBA finals vs. the Chicago Bulls.
Eisley was traded to
the Dallas Mavericks in a four-team deal on August 16, 2000 and played one
season with the Mavericks, before being dealt to New York in 2001.
During his 10-year
NBA career, he has played in 680 games and has averaged 6.8 points and 3.6
assists, including a career best 9.1 points and 5.4 assists with the Knicks in
2002-03. He was originally drafted by
the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round of the 1994 NBA Draft.
Eisley is expected to
be in uniform for the game tonight vs. the Los Angeles Lakers and will wear
number 6.
