NEW YORK, Dec. 4 -- Karl Malone of the Utah Jazz, who stands just eight points away from passing Hall of Famer Wilt Chamberlain for second place on the NBA's all-time scoring list, today was named the NBA Player of the Month for games played in November.

Malone led the Jazz to a 12-3 record, the second-best mark in the NBA, and a league-best 6-1 road record in November by averaging a team-high 23.6 points and 10.6 rebounds with 4.7 assists per game.
Malone led Utah in scoring in the Jazz's 12 victories, including a 35-point effort at Dallas and 31 points in Los Angeles versus the Clippers. During November, Malone led the Jazz in rebounding in 14 of 15 games, including a season-best 15 rebounds in a 98-92 home victory over Minnesota.
