Sr. Vice President of Basketball Operations, Kevin O’Connor, announced today that the Jazz made a qualifying offer to
Carlos Arroyo,
Jarron Collins,
Gordan Giricekand
Maurice Williams for the 2004-05 season.
Under the terms of the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, the Jazz were required to make the qualifying offer by June 30 in order to establish the team’s right to match any offer a player might receive.
“All four of these players made an important contribution to the team last year,” said O’Connor. “We want them back next year and these qualifying offers show our intent to make that happen.”
Teams are permitted to begin negotiations with restricted free agents on July 1 and are permitted to sign these players to long-term contracts after July 14.
