Knicks and Garden of Dreams Celebrate Week of Giving
NEW YORK, March 19, 2007 – The New York Knicks and the Garden of Dreams Foundation will usher in the spring by hosting a Week of Giving for Tri-State area children in need. The Week of Giving will include toy deliveries to three area agencies and a party for more than 300 children and families from Garden of Dreams community organizations at Madison Square Garden.
During the month of March, Knicks fans were encouraged to donate new, unwrapped toys to the Knicks and Garden of Dreams toy drives at MSG and the NBA Store on Fifth Avenue. On Monday, March 19, Eddy Curry and Channing Frye will tip off the Week of Giving when they hand deliver toys and host a pizza party for children of the Ronald McDonald House of New York on Manhattan's Upper East Side. The events will continue on Wednesday, March 21 with a private visit from Jared Jeffries and John Starks to Hackensack University Medical Center. The following week, Malik Rose and Jerome James will deliver toys to kids from NYU's Rusk Institute. On Thursday, March 22, more than 300 children from these, as well as other organizations served by the Garden of Dreams Foundation will be treated to a fun-filled party at the Theater at Madison Square Garden. Those who attend also will receive tickets to watch the Knicks play against the Portland Trail Blazers that night. Below is an itinerary of events for the Knicks and Garden of Dreams Week of Giving:
Monday, March 19, 4:30-6:30 p.m. @ The Ronald McDonald House of New York, 405 East 73rd Street
Thursday, March 22, 5:00-6:30 p.m. @ The Theater at Madison Square Garden
Tuesday, March 27, 4:00-6:00 p.m. @ NYU's Rusk Institute, 400 East 34th Street Garden of Dreams Foundation, a non-profit charity that closely partners with all areas of Madison Square Garden, launched this fall with a commitment to "make dreams come true for kids in crisis." Partnering with organizations dedicated to helping children facing enormous obstacles, Garden of Dreams conducts events and programs that seek to brighten the lives of children facing illness, homelessness, abuse, hunger and poverty. |
