NY 87, DAL 107: Mavs Win in Chandler's Return

How it Happened

The Knicks weren't able to overcome a sluggish start, falling to the Mavericks, 107-87 at Madison Square Garden.

Dallas came out firing, opening up a 19-point lead by the middle of the first quarter. Derek Fisher responded by making wholesale substitutions and the Knicks stormed back with a 19-7 run to cut the lead to four, but the Mavs shot 45 percent from three for the game and pulled away with a balanced attack.

Carmelo Anthony (26 points, five assists, five rebounds and four steals), Tim Hardaway Jr. (14 points, four rebounds) and Amar'e Stoudemire (10 points, five rebounds) carried the offensive load for the Knicks

Knick of the Night

Anthony caused matchup headaches for Dallas, but it wasn't nearly enough on this night.

Game Notes

J.R. Smith (heel) did not dress for the third consecutive game. Former Knick Tyson Chandler scored eight points and pulled in 14 rebounds in his return to MSG. Raymond Felton did not dress.

Next up

The Knicks fly to Chicago after practice tomorrow to take on the Bulls on Thursday night.
