NYK 113, ORL 106: Knicks Win 3rd Straight

How it Happened

With a 113-106 victory over Orlando tonight at the Garden, the Knicks avenged a two-point November loss en route to their first three-game winning streak of the season.

With a recipe of unselfishness and grit down the stretch, New York hung on in a nip-and-tuck game that went down to the wire. As the Magic clawed back, the Knicks stuck to the formula and came up with one big bucket after another; a free throw line jumper, a putback dunk, a driving runner -- Lance Thomas scored eight of his 16 points in the 4th quarter, and for the second conseuctive game, Langston Galloway nailed a clutch corner 3-pointer to put the game out of reach.

It was another team win, highlighted by 29 Knicks assists and a 49-39 New York advantage on the boards. Five Knicks scored in double figures, including Jason Smith, who had 19 points and connected on 3 of 4 shots from beyond the arc.

Knick of the Night

Fresh off being voted as a starter in his eighth All-Star game, Carmelo Anthony turned in another solid performance to lead his team to the win: 25 points, seven rebounds and four assists.

Game Notes

Amar'e Stoudemire was inactive tonight, but Derek Fisher said he expects the big man to play tomorrow night in Charlotte. Jose Calderon left the game in the 3rd quarter with a left knee contusion and did not return. X-rays were negative.
