The Orlando Magic offer two scholarships per year to deserving high school seniors. Below is the criteria for both scholarships. You may apply for one or both scholarships if you meet each of the criteria listed.
$20,000 UCF MINORITY SCHOLARSHIP
This four-year $20,000 ($5,000 per year) scholarship is awarded to one high school senior residing in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Polk, Volusia, Hillsborough, or Lake County . In addition to meeting the financial need criteria, the academic requirements include a minimum 1010 on the SAT or 21 ACT score and a weighted cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Extracurricular activities, honors classes, letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay describing the applicant’s own personal qualities are also included in the application requirements. The recipient must be registered to attend the University of Central Florida the fall of the upcoming school year.
$10,000 MAGIC ACHIEVER SCHOLARSHIP
The Magic Achiever Scholarship awards one high school senior in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Polk, Volusia, Hillsborough, or Lake County $10,000 ($2,500 per year). In addition to meeting the financial need criteria, the academic requirements include a minimum 1010 on the SAT or 21 ACT score and a weighted cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Extracurricular activities, honors classes, letters of recommendation and a 500-word essay are also included in the application requirements. The Magic Achiever Scholarship can be used at any accredited four-year college in Florida.

BASKETBALL CAMP SCHOLARSHIPS
Throughout the year, the Orlando Magic receive numerous Basketball Camp Scholarship requests from parents, non-profit organizations, foundations, faith based organizations and other community groups. The community relations departments makes a commitment to honor as many request as possible, however, we can only offer a limited number of scholarship per year. Please note that a request submission does not guarantee approval for participation.
Below are specific guidelines for you to consider before submitting a request, as we do adhere to these policies.
1. Children must reside within the Central Florida area (Orange, Seminole & Osceola County).
Exceptions include camps scheduled in Volusia, Brevard, Polk or Hillsborough County. Scholarships will be awarded to children within those counties when available.
2. All requests must be submitted in writing at least two weeks prior to the scheduled camp start date and must include the following:
Completed camp registration form signed by parent or legal guardian.
Parent contact information.
School child is attending.
Demonstrated financial need.
Free or reduced lunch statement.
If you cannot submit financial need statement, request will be automatically declined.
Preferred camp date, time & location.
Other activities your child is participating in this summer (YMCA, Parks & Recreation, Boys & Girls Club)
Previous camp attendance & scholarships received.

2008-09 Scholarship Recipients
In surprise presentations at their high schools on Friday, May 2, Pine Ridge High School student Mehreen Kassoo and West Orange High School student Maria Paula Chau were awarded the University of Central Florida (U.C.F.) Minority Scholarship and Magic Achiever Scholarship, respectively. Magic Community Ambassador Bo Outlaw along with other representatives from the team traveled to West Orange High School and Pine Ridge High School to surprise the students with large novelty checks and news of their scholarships.
The Magic Achiever Scholarship awards one high school senior $10,000 ($2,500 annually). The winner must reside in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Polk, Volusia, Hillsborough or Lake County and meet the academic and financial-need criteria. The academic requirements include a minimum 1010 on SAT or 21 ACT score, a weighted cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale, extracurricular activities/honors, a letter of recommendation and a 500 word essay on one of the most significant problems with our society today and what they would do to solve it. The scholarship may be used at any accredited four-year college or university in Florida. Chau plans to attend U.C.F. in the fall and study journalism.
The U.C.F. Minority Scholarship, in its 15th year of existence, provides $20,000 ($5,000 per year) to a minority student residing in Orange, Seminole, Osceola, Brevard, Polk, Volusia, Hillsborough or Lake County who meets the academic and financial-need criteria. Some other requirements include: a minimum 1010 on SAT or 21 ACT score, a weighted cumulative G.P.A. of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, extracurricular activities/honors, a letter of recommendation and a 500 word essay on one of the most significant problems with our society today and what they would do to solve it. Kassoo will attend U.C.F. in the fall and plans to study microbiology. She is a valedictorian candidate for her high school.
