Stackhouse Visits Taylor Elementary

Jerry Stackhouse headed back to elementary school on Thursday, March 13. Don’t worry he wasn’t making up for lost time. Stackhouse was the main event at a “3-A-Day of Dairy” school assembly.

Nine-year-old Dalton Pybus won the opportunity to take Jerry Stackhouse to school by winning the Dairy MAX and Dannon “Take Jerry Stackhouse to School” contest. Students were asked to write an essay about how they get their 3-A-Day™ of dairy on game day and why they love the Mavs.

Dalton’s winning essay:
In the morning I drink one or two glasses of milk with my cereal everyday.
At school I drink more than two bottles of milk because my mom says it has calcium in it and I can get big bones like the superstars in the NBA.
And at night I have more milk so I can be like Stackhouse, Dirk, Terry, Bass, Kidd and Howard and everybody else.

Health and nutrition is very close to Stack’s heart, since he has lost two sisters to diabetes and both of his parents are living with the disease.

“Children’s health and nutrition is something that Dairy Max, Dannon and I take very seriously,” Jerry Stackhouse said. “This promotion is a perfect way for me to promote the well being of children. I am proud to be a part of the great work that they do.”

The dairy industry currently promotes three daily servings of milk, cheese or yogurt through its 3-A-Day® of Dairy campaign in conjunction with the newest Dietary Guidelines. It’s also the easiest way to fight what it terms a national “calcium crisis.” In the case of teenagers and the elderly, four servings are considered the target.

At the assembly, the student body was able to do a Q&A with Jerry and the questions ranged from who is his favorite teammate (he likes them all) to how long he has played in the NBA. One of the kids answered 27 years.
