The fully interactive Fan Van has a large LCD-flat screen, a pop-up regulation basketball hoop attached on the back, a database sweepstakes kiosk, as well as other elements for fans to interact with.
Established in 2005, the Pacers Summer Caravan offers non-profit groups the chance to participate in a variety of events including Reading TimeOuts, Alumni Basketball Clinics and the Pacers Prize wheel where participants can enhance both their literacy and basketball skills, while winning Pacers prizes.
The Reading TimeOuts are part of the Read to Achieve Program presented by Chase and serves as the primary community activity in which the Pacers promote the value of reading and online literacy. The Pacers All-Star reading team helps build a lifelong love of reading and brings public awareness to the value of reading. All-Star reading team members include local dignitaries, community leaders, educators and local celebrities.
Led by former Pacers player and current Associate Director of Camps, Clinics and Alumni Relations, Darnell Hillman, the Alumni Basketball Clinic offers participants the chance to learn from the best. Hillman leads the camp in a variety of basketball contests including the 3-Point Shootout, Defensive Slide, Land/Sea/Air and more, all while teaching the fundamentals of basketball.
The goal of the Pacers Summer Caravan is to further enhance the Pacers involvement in the community and to continue to encourage children and their families to embrace the love of reading.
