Members of the Indiana Pacers, along with Pacers mascots Boomer and Bowser, and members of the Indiana Pacemates visited area children’s hospitals on Friday, Feb. 8, 2008, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. The visits are geared to spreading some “love and cheer” in honor of Valentine’s Day.
Members of the Indiana Pacers split up into three groups to enable visits to all the hospitals at the same time. Stephen Graham and Andre Owens visited Methodist Children’s Hospital; assistant coach Lester Conner, Marquis Daniels and Jermaine O'Neal visited Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent; and Mike Dunleavy and Shawne Williams visited Riley Children’s Hospital.
Each patient received a customized Pacers pillow, as well as a t-shirt and the opportunity to take a photo and get an autograph from their favorite player, mascot or Pacemate.
Additionally, fresh baked dessert and gift company Cheryl&Co. offered a special assortment of award-winning Valentine cookies to help savor the moment of this special Valentine's visit from the team. The children at each hospital enjoyed Cheryl&Co.’s renowned classics such as the butter cream frosted cookie and the classic chocolate chip cookie.
