The space, which underwent a complete renovation over two weeks, will serve as a welcoming area for hospital patients and their families. The new area resembles the Pistons home court at The Palace of Auburn Hills and features resources to help hospital visitors relax while also providing educational opportunities.
“This is our ninth resource center renovation project since 2001, but our very first in a hospital setting,” said Tom Wilson, president and CEO of Palace Sports & Entertainment, who will also be part of the unveiling. “The Pistons-Palace Foundation is pleased to create this extraordinary space at Children’s Hospital, an investment that we believe will pay off exponentially. We want the Pistons Reading Court to be a place that the more than 300,000 visitors, families and children, can interact and take their minds off of being in a hospital.”
Evans, Maxiell and Wilson were joined by Dr. Herman Gray, President of Children’s Hospital, along with Pistons mascot Hooper, in-arena hostess Erin Nicole and young patients of the hospital.
