LAST SEASON (2006-07): Year Two got off to a disappointing start for Williams, who suffered a non-displaced fracture of the third metacarpal of his left hand during Hawks practice a week (10/26) before the start of the regular season • The setback caused him to miss the first 17 games of the year (he missed one additional game later in the season due to low back spasms), but the 6-9 forward showed considerable improvement from his rookie campaign, averaging 13.1 ppg, 5.3 rpg, 1.9 apg and 0.8 spg (.433 FG%, .244 3FG%, .815 FT%) in 64 games (63 starts) • Williams increased in numbers in each of those categories from his rookie campaign, up 4.6 ppg from year one, up 0.5 rpg, 1.1 in apg and 0.2 in spg • 3rd on the team in points and FT percentage, he was also 4th in minutes played and 5th in rebounds • Over a stretch in April (4/8 – 4/13), Williams tallied 20-plus points in three straight games for the first time in his career; and five-of-his-last-six contests of the season (averaged 19.7 ppg, .565 FG% during that span) • Williams registered 13 20-point games, and led the Hawks in scoring seven times, in rebounds nine times and in assists four occasions • He tied his season high with 24 points, on a career-best 11 FGM v/Wash (4/13/07) • Posted four double-doubles (pts/rebs) • Williams’ first 20 pt/10 reb game came against Phoenix (2/25) when he finished with 23 points and 10 rebounds • SEASON HIGHS: 24 pts (2x), 12 rebs v/Mia (3/21/07), 7 assts v/Det (1/12/07), 3 stls (2x), 2 blks (3x), 51 mins @Phil (4/8/07), 11 FGM v/Wash (4/13/07), 2 3FGM v/Chi (12/16/06), 13 FTM (2x).

COLLEGIATE CAREER: In his freshman season at North Carolina (2004-05), Williams provided key frontcourt depth off the bench in helping the Tar Heels claim the 2005 NCAA title • His tip-in with 1:26 remaining in the NCAA final vs. Illinois broke a 70-70 tie, propelling UNC to a 75-70 victory • Williams earned ACC Rookie of the Year honors and was a unanimous selection to the ACC All-Freshman Team • In addition, he was named Honorable Mention All-ACC • On the season, Williams averaged 11.3 points and was 2nd on the team with 6.6 rebounds per game, and among conference leaders, he finished 4th in free throw percentage (.847) and 10th in rebounding • A five-time Rookie of the Week selection, he was also named defensive player of the game four times • Williams shot .506 from the field and .432 from three-point range • During UNC’s tournament wins (six games), he averaged 12.0 points and 7.3 rebounds, including 20 points vs. Oakland, and 20 points and a career-high 15 rebounds vs. Iowa State.
