Hornacek Talks Effort and Moving Forward on Arizona Sports

Following a 115-98 loss against the Heat, Jeff Hornacek joined Arizona Sports’ Doug & Wolf to discuss the state of the Suns.

“For us, it’s doing it for 48 minutes,” Hornacek said about the team’s effort. “It’s having that attitude, desire and determination. I thought they were ready to play. We just do little things that make it hard to win sometimes. I thought our guys were focused on winning the game. The third quarter was very, very good [against Miami].”

In Monday’s game versus the Heat, Phoenix outscored Miami 26-23 in the third quarter and started to get a rhythm going offensively. Lately, it has taken the Suns a few minutes in games to settle into the offensive flow of things, but that shouldn’t come as much of a surprise. In fact, due to game days and a hectic travel schedule, the Suns – as currently constructed – haven’t had a chance to hold a legitimate, full practice.

“I think we’ll have a pretty good practice today,” Hornacek added. “It’s the first practice we’ll be able to have; since the trade it’s the first practice we’ll have with our guys. We’ll go over things and reemphasize principles and offensive things we try to do. I think they’ll come out with the effort they had in the third quarter [against Miami] because I thought it was great. We do that and step up our defense and we’ll be ok.”
