Isaiah Thomas Pokes Fun at NBA 2k15 Rating

NBA 2k is quite possibly the greatest series of video games ever made.

Ever.

Well, at least NBA-heads think so.

On an annual basis, NBA 2k releases its player rankings for fans (and players) to debate. They are largely subjective, but usually on-point.

That is, unless you are named Isaiah Thomas.

After finding out he had a cumulative rating of 80/100, Thomas took to Twitter to playfully debate his ranking.

Thomas has a legitimate point.

For example, Kyrie Irving of the Cleveland Cavaliers is reported to have an overall rating of 88. In fact, in the 2013-14 NBA season, Thomas averaged more assists than Irving (6.3 - 6.1) with a higher shooting percentage (45.3 - 43.0). Indeed, this isn't a knock on Irving (a phenomenal player) but rather a compliment to Thomas.

The other five players to average 20 points and six assists last season? Well, they’re pretty good: Kyrie Irving, LeBron James, Steph Curry and James Harden – all with ratings rumored to be at least 88 or higher (LeBron James is rumored to have a 98 rating).

In the end, Thomas knows full well that his rating in a video game ultimately doesn’t mean much.

Still, with the season both he and the organization expect him to have in his first year with the Suns, it’s safe to say his 2k16 rating will - and should - be significantly higher.
