Playoff Roundup | Warriors Advance, Hornets Gain Edge In Miami

The Golden State Warriors – without that Steph Curry guy – beat the Houston Rockets last night in Oakland to advance to the second round of the playoffs.

We’ll get into how miserable the Rockets are some other time, but winning by 32 points without Curry is a confidence boost for this Warriors squad. More important than anything, with the blowout, Steve Kerr was able to rest some of his main guys. Only Draymond Green played more than 30 minutes.

Klay Thompson finished with 27 points, 21 coming from the 3-point line, while Green added 15 points, nine rebounds and eight assists.

Dub Nation is crossing their fingers in hopes that the Blazers and Clippers series goes to seven games. Another day the team doesn’t play is another game the team doesn’t have to play without Curry.

Was There A Foul?

In the final seconds in Miami, it looked like there was some contact as Dwyane Wade went up for a shot. But there was no call. Wade was upset, as he should have been. A lot of people said it wasn’t a “playoff” foul, which doesn’t make sense to me because a foul should be a foul regardless of situation. But that’s just me.

The Hornets pulled off the upset over the Heat, thanks to a clutch 3-pointer from Courtney Lee and 17 points and eight rebounds from Marvin Williams.

The Hornets are now up 3-2 and the series heads back to Charlotte.

Can Michael Jordan finally get back to the second round of the playoffs?

Who Will Score For The Clippers?

That’s what I asked my roommate before last night’s game. And I still don’t really have any idea.

No Chris Paul. No Blake Griffin. No player scored more than 20 points for the Clippers.

The Blazers won 108-98, thanks to 49 combined points from Damian Lillard and C.J. McCollum.

Portland was a team supposed to be in the lottery this season, counting ping pong balls. Instead, the Blazers will probably advance to the second round of the playoffs to play the Warriors. It’s just hard to see the Clippers winning two straight games (the first on the road) with J.J. Redick as their best scorer.
