Timberwolves Exercise Team Options on Bennett, Dieng and Muhammad

Minneapolis/St. Paul – The Minnesota Timberwolves today announced that the team has exercised the third-year options on forward Anthony Bennett, center Gorgui Dieng and forward Shabazz Muhammad.Bennett, obtained in a trade from Cleveland on Aug. 23, saw action in 52 games for the Cavaliers in 2013-14, averaging 4.2 points and 3.0 rebounds in 12.8 minutes per game. He posted two double-doubles on the season, tallying a career-high 19 points and 10 rebounds off the bench Feb. 11 vs. Sacramento and scoring 10 points and grabbing a career-high 11 rebounds off the bench Feb. 18 at Philadelphia.Dieng saw action in 60 games last season, including 33 of the final 35; he averaged 4.8 points and 5.0 rebounds in 13.6 minutes per game. He started 15 of the final 18 contests, averaging 12.0 points and 11.3 while collecting nine double-doubles. Dieng closed his rookie NBA campaign by being named Western Conference Rookie of the Month for March.Muhammad finished his rookie NBA season by appearing in 37 games for the Wolves, all off the bench, and averaged 3.9 points and 1.4 rebounds in 7.8 minutes per game. He tallied a season-high 20 points Feb. 25 at Phoenix, one of four double-digit nights on the season.
